Game Overview
If you've ever wanted to feel like Indiana Jones for about 10 minutes before getting absolutely wrecked by a boulder, this MAME classic is for you. The Temple of Doom arcade game throws you straight into the action—you're whipping snakes, jumping over spike pits, and trying not to get crushed by rolling rocks almost immediately. The controls take a second to get used to (why does whipping feel so stiff?), but once you do, there's something weirdly satisfying about smacking cultists with Indy's trademark move.
It's got that perfect 80s arcade difficulty where everything wants to kill you, but you'll keep feeding quarters anyway. The minecart level alone is worth the frustration—just don't expect to make it past the second stage on your first try. The music and pixel art still hold up, especially when you trigger those little cutscenes of Indy grabbing artifacts.
Fair warning: this is one of those games where you'll die a lot before figuring out the enemy patterns. But hey, at least you get to punch a Thuggee in the face.
