Game Overview

Ishar 2: Messengers of Doom is one of those classic Amiga RPGs that feels both ambitious and a little rough around the edges. You start off leading a party of adventurers through a dark fantasy world, and right away, the game throws you into this weirdly atmospheric mix of first-person dungeon crawling and top-down exploration.

The combat’s turn-based but with this odd real-time delay—you’ll queue up attacks and watch them play out in little animations. Magic spells are satisfyingly flashy for an Amiga game, though half the time I wasn’t sure if my fireball actually hit anything. The world’s got that old-school charm where every NPC has something cryptic to say, and you’ll probably get lost at least once trying to figure out which cave leads to the next plot point.

It’s definitely a product of its time, but if you’re into retro RPGs with a moody vibe, this one’s worth dusting off.
