Game Overview

Mutant Chronicles: Doom Troopers on SNES is like if Contra took a detour through a grimy cyberpunk nightmare—and honestly, that’s a good thing. You’re dumped straight into this industrial wasteland with nothing but a gun and a death wish, mowing down mutants and cultists who look like they crawled out of a heavy metal album cover. The first level alone throws exploding barrels, screen-shaking boss fights, and this weirdly satisfying shotgun that just feels brutal when it connects.

What surprised me was how much personality it has—the backgrounds are all rusted pipes and flickering neon, and the enemies? Some of them burst into chunks when you shoot them, which never gets old. It’s tough as nails, yeah, but in that way where you keep muttering “one more try” until 2 AM. If you’re into ‘90s shooters with a side of dystopian gloom, this one’s a blast (literally).
