Mutant Chronicles: Doom Troopers came out on the Super Nintendo in 1995, developed by Adrenalin Entertainment. It was one of those mid-90s action games that tried to bring a darker, grittier comic book style to the console, with a lot of industrial metal and grotesque enemy designs. You control one of four different troopers, each with a unique weapon, and you move screen by screen through side-scrolling levels filled with mutants and mechanical horrors. Your main goal is to survive each stage, defeat the boss, and move on. The game uses a lives and continues system, and the pacing is fast but often unforgiving; enemies swarm from all directions, and some attacks feel cheap. You collect power-ups to upgrade your firepower temporarily, and the screen can get chaotic with particle effects and enemy spawns. It feels like a relentless, messy fight where you're just trying to keep your head above water.
