Hire mercs who bicker as much as they shoot, then try not to go broke keeping them paid while fighting for control of an island—one wrong move and your best sniper quits mid-mission.

Jagged Alliance came out in 1995 for MS-DOS, developed by Sir-tech Software. It was one of those deep, turn-based strategy games that asked a lot from players back then, with its mix of tactical combat and management. You didn't just jump into fights; you had to think about your choices, your team, and your wallet.
You control a squad of mercenaries hired to liberate a fictional island from a dictator. You move them across a strategic map, sector by sector, managing their equipment, morale, and salaries. Combat is turn-based, with action points governing movement, aiming, and attacks. The game is difficult; poor planning can leave you bankrupt or with a team that refuses to work together. It feels tense and personal, especially when a trusted mercenary gets wounded or quits over low pay.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
