Jaws came out on the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987, developed by Westone and published by LJN. It was one of those many movie tie-in games from that era, where you knew the license was the main draw, not necessarily groundbreaking design. You saw a lot of these on the NES, games that tried to capture a film's excitement but often ended up feeling a bit separate from their source material.

You control Chief Brody, moving your small boat screen by screen across a map of Amity Island. Your main goal is to find and defeat the shark, but first you need to power up. You do this by stabbing jellyfish and other sea creatures that pop up, which earns you points to upgrade your boat's engine and harpoon strength. The pacing is slow, almost methodical, as you search for the shark across different zones, and the difficulty comes from managing your limited harpoons and avoiding damage. It all builds toward a final confrontation where you ram the shark repeatedly in a strangely abrupt showdown. Playing it feels like a very straightforward, slightly clunky hunt, where the satisfaction comes from finally being strong enough to take the beast down.
