Judge Dredd on the Genesis is one of those rough-around-the-edges beta games that somehow nails the comic’s vibe better than most official releases. You’re dumped straight into Mega-City One’s grimy streets, blasting mutants and thugs with the Lawgiver—which, by the way, has this satisfying thunk when you switch ammo types. The melee combat’s clunky but weirdly fun once you get the timing down—nothing like drop-kicking a cyborg into a pile of crates.

It’s got that classic 16-bit chaos: screen-filling explosions, weirdly detailed sprite work (Dredd’s shoulder pads alone deserve an award), and enemies that just keep coming. Some sections feel unfinished—expect a few cheap hits—but that almost adds to the charm. If you’ve ever wanted to play as the most over-the-top cop in fiction, warts and all, this is your chance. Just don’t expect mercy from the difficulty.
