Game Overview

Judge Dredd on the SNES is exactly what you’d hope for—a rough, loud, and slightly janky trip through Mega-City One where you get to be the law. You start off blasting through crowds of mutants and bots with the Lawgiver, which has these satisfyingly chunky sound effects. Then, out of nowhere, you’re thrown onto a bike chase, weaving through traffic while taking potshots. It’s chaotic, but in that fun early '90s way where everything feels a little over-the-top.

The pixel art nails the comic’s grimy style, and switching ammo types (armor-piercing, incendiary—you know the drill) keeps fights from getting stale. It’s not the smoothest game—some jumps feel weirdly floaty, and the hit detection can be brutal—but there’s something about the sheer audacity of it that makes up for the rough edges. If you grew up with comics or just love messy, ambitious SNES action, this one’s worth a shot.

Just don’t expect mercy from the difficulty. The game’s as unforgiving as Dredd himself.
