Game Overview

Judge Dredd on the Genesis is exactly what you’d hope for—a no-nonsense, side-scrolling brawler where you punch, shoot, and occasionally ride a motorcycle through Mega-City One’s ugliest alleys. The first level throws you right into it: thugs lunging at you, guns tucked behind dumpsters, and that satisfying thwack when your baton connects. It’s got that Streets of Rage feel, but grittier, with pixelated neon signs flickering in the background like the city’s barely holding together.

What surprised me was the weapon variety. You start with your standard issue Lawgiver, but pretty soon you’re picking up enemy shotguns, tossing grenades, and—if you’re lucky—unloading with a chaingun. The motorcycle stage is a standout, weaving through traffic while blasting goons in cars. It’s not perfect—some hits feel weirdly floaty—but the comic’s tone is spot-on. That synth-heavy soundtrack? Pure ‘90s Sega, all crunchy bass and urgency.

If you’ve ever wanted to be the judge, jury, and executioner in pixel form, this’ll scratch that itch. Just don’t expect mercy—from the game or the perps.
