Game Overview

JuJu Densetsu – Toki – Going Ape Spit is one of those Genesis games that makes you stop and go, "Wait, what?" the first time you see it. You're a tribal guy turned into a gun-slinging, spit-firing ape, bouncing around levels that feel like a fever dream—jungles full of weirdos, temples with traps that seem designed by a drunk architect, and bosses that look like they escaped from a rejected cartoon pitch.

The controls take a second to click—your spit arcs in this weirdly satisfying way, and once you get the timing down, you’ll be picking off enemies mid-jump like some kind of deranged, hyperactive sniper. The music’s got this bouncy, almost carnival-like energy that somehow fits perfectly when you’re dodging lava pits or getting ambushed by floating heads.

It’s not easy, but the sheer ridiculousness of it all keeps you pushing forward. By the time you’re spitting fireballs at a giant frog in a crown, you’ll either be hooked or questioning your life choices. Either way, it’s a trip.
