Game Overview

Kamen Rider SD - Hashire! Mighty Riders came out on the Game Boy in 1990, developed by Bandai. It was part of that wave of early handheld games where licensed titles tried to capture the feel of their source material with simple, straightforward action. You get to play as these super deformed versions of classic Kamen Riders, which was a fun twist for fans at the time.

You control one of several miniature Riders, moving screen by screen through short levels, punching and kicking your way through waves of enemy combatants. The main goal is to clear each stage by defeating all foes; some stages include light platforming or minor puzzles. A key mechanic is being able to switch between different Riders, each with their own special attack animation, like a Rider Kick or a unique weapon strike. The game moves quickly, with short levels that keep things from dragging, though the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later areas. It feels energetic and silly in the best way, like playing through a condensed episode of the show with all the goofy charm intact.
