Game Overview

Ever played hanafuda or mahjong and thought, "What if these had a weird little crossover?" Karan Koron Gakuen answers that question in the most Game Boy Color way possible—chunky pixels, a strangely soothing soundtrack, and just enough challenge to make you mutter at your screen.

At first, it feels like a regular hanafuda game with those beautiful flower cards, but then the mahjong tiles start creeping in. You’ll be matching cherry blossoms one minute and agonizing over which dragon tile to discard the next. The AI isn’t ruthless, but it’s sneaky—I lost three rounds before realizing I’d been played by a pixelated old man in a school uniform.

It’s got that late-90s handheld charm where everything’s a little janky but weirdly addictive. Don’t expect tutorials—you either know the rules or learn by losing. Perfect for bus rides or pretending you’re in a retro anime about gambling teens.
