Game Overview

I picked up Keitai Denjuu Telefang 2: Power Limited back when it came out on the Game Boy Advance in 2002, published by Natsume. It was part of that wave of monster-collecting RPGs that followed Pokémon, but it always felt a bit more obscure, a little more niche. The hardware limitations of the GBA gave it a certain charm; the sprites were small but expressive, and the world felt big even on that tiny screen.

You play as a kid who partners with these digital monsters called Denjuu, using an old cell phone to call them into battle. Your main goal is to explore the world, recruit more monsters, and stop a looming threat. The combat is turn-based but with an energy system; each move costs points, and if you drain your monster's battery, it can't act until it recharges. You navigate through areas screen by screen, talking to other characters and sometimes getting lost in the maze-like layouts. The pacing can be slow, and some parts are genuinely tricky without a guide. It feels like managing a stubborn, energetic pet that sometimes wins fights for you and other times just runs out of juice.
