Play Kings of the Beach - Professional Beach Volleyball Online

Pick a pro, hit the sand, and try not to get booed off the court—those floaty spikes take timing, but nailing a cross-court slam feels great. The AI doesn’t go easy, so button mashing gets you wrecked fast.

Game Overview

Kings of the Beach came out on the NES in 1988, published by Ultra Games. It was one of the few sports titles at the time that tried to capture the feel of a real professional beach volleyball match, with its own distinct pace and style. You could pick from a roster of real players, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, which was a nice touch for a game from that era.

You control a pair of volleyball players, moving them around the court to set, bump, and spike the ball. The main goal is to win matches by outscoring the computer or a second player. Key mechanics include timing your jumps for blocks and spikes, positioning your players to receive serves, and managing a limited stamina meter that drains with intense movement. The game moves quickly, and the AI offers a stiff challenge, punishing sloppy play. It feels rewarding when you finally sync up your actions and start to control the flow of the game.
