Play Knock-Out Kings Online

The stiff little boxers surprise you—once you nail the dodge timing, you’ll catch yourself actually leaning with the punches. Career mode’s a slow climb from punching bag to champ, but versus mode’s where you’ll lose hours to cheap shots and screen-shaking KOs.

Game Overview

Knock-Out Kings on Game Boy Color is one of those games that feels way better than it looks. The pixelated boxers move a little stiff, but once you get the timing down for dodging and countering, it clicks—suddenly you're leaning side to side with your whole body like an idiot while playing on the bus. Career mode's got this satisfying grind where you start as a nobody and slowly unlock better gloves and opponents who actually dodge your punches instead of just eating them.

Versus mode is where it shines, though. My brother and I used to waste hours trying to cheese each other with the same two-hit combo until someone figured out how to block it. It's not deep, but there's something weirdly addictive about the way the screen shakes when you land a solid uppercut. Definitely more fun than it has any right to be for a Game Boy sports game.
