Knights of Valour Plus is one of those classic arcade beat 'em ups that just feels right—you pick from five warriors (I always go for Guan Yu with his massive halberd) and hack your way through waves of enemies straight out of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The sprites are chunky and satisfying, and there's something weirdly addictive about juggling enemies with basic combos while dodging arrows and fireballs.
What surprised me was how much strategy sneaks in—you can't just button-mash when armored generals show up, and some stages have these sneaky traps that'll wreck you if you charge in blindly. The magic system's fun too—collect orbs to unleash screen-clearing attacks, but you'll want to save them for when things get really messy (which happens a lot).
It's got that perfect arcade balance where it feels fair but still kicks your butt if you get careless. Definitely a gem if you miss the days of dropping quarters into cabinets.
