Game Overview

Lane Mastodon vs. the Blubbermen came out in 1988 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Infocom. It was one of those oddball action titles that felt right at home on the platform, where experimental ideas and simple mechanics often shared the screen. You controlled a bulky, out of shape cartoon character named Lane Mastodon, tasked with clearing room after room of gelatinous enemies.

You move Lane through single screen levels, punching the bouncing Blubbermen before they overwhelm you. Each stage introduces new enemy patterns and environmental obstacles, forcing you to time your attacks and reposition constantly. The game escalates quickly, with later levels demanding precise movement and rapid punches to survive. It feels frantic and silly, a straightforward brawler that never takes itself too seriously.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
