Last Survivor came out in 1992 as an arcade game from Arcade Studios. It was part of that wave of early 90s titles that tried to push multiplayer action beyond just fighting games, offering something a bit more chaotic and free-form. You would see it tucked in the corner of an arcade, usually with a couple of people crowded around it.

You control a simple wireframe character, moving screen by screen through a maze filled with other players. Your main goal is to survive by collecting keys to unlock the exit while everyone else is trying to do the same thing, and they can just as easily attack you or steal what you've gathered. The signature mechanics are the split-screen co-op that lets you temporarily team up with a friend and the constant scramble to upgrade your weapon between frantic skirmishes. The pacing is relentless; the difficulty comes from the other humans playing, not just pre-set enemies. It feels like a tense, unpredictable scramble where any alliance could break in an instant.
