Game Overview

Lemonade Stand came out in 1973 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by the Minnesota Educational Computing Consortium. It was a simple text-based game that ran on the early personal computers of the era, fitting on a single floppy disk and requiring little processing power. You didn't need fancy graphics to get drawn into its straightforward, almost meditative economic simulation.

You control a young entrepreneur running a lemonade stand, making daily decisions about how many glasses to make, what price to charge per glass, and how many advertising signs to put up, all while keeping a close eye on the weather forecast. The main objective is to turn a profit over a set number of days, managing your small budget to avoid going broke. Signature mechanics include adjusting your recipe and price based on the day's weather report (sunny days meant more customers, rain meant fewer) and then seeing a summary of your sales and profits at the end of each in-game day. The pacing is quick, with each day taking only a minute or two, but the difficulty comes from the unpredictable weather and learning how to anticipate customer demand. It feels like a genuine, low-stakes lesson in basic business, where a bad forecast can ruin your whole week.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
