The first time I got ambushed by a swarm of those flying things in Brinstar, I actually yelped.

The controls are snappier, which helps when you’re dodging attacks from beefed-up versions of classic baddies. And the music? Still that perfect mix of haunting and pulse-pounding, though some tracks have subtle remixes that hit harder. I spent way too long just staring at the rain in Maridia—they somehow made the atmosphere even thicker.

If you’ve played Super Metroid to death, this mod throws in enough surprises to make it feel unfamiliar in the best way. My only warning: save often. Those new boss patterns don’t mess around.
