Play LineWars II Online
Claim territory and block your opponent by drawing lines on a grid in this strategic battle of wits.
LineWars II came out in 1994 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, developed by Prometheous Software. It was a time when strategy games were often built on simple concepts, and this one fit right in, offering a clean, focused experience without a lot of extra fluff or graphical distraction.
You control a cursor that places colored lines on a grid, attempting to claim territory and block your opponent, which is usually a clever AI. The main objective is to dominate the board by connecting your lines to form closed shapes, filling them with your color while preventing the computer from doing the same. Key mechanics include careful placement to avoid leaving openings, anticipating the AI's moves several steps ahead, and sometimes sacrificing small areas to win larger ones. The pacing is methodical, almost chess-like, but the difficulty ramps up quickly, demanding real concentration. It feels surprisingly intense for a game about drawing lines.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
