Game Overview

Madagascar for the Game Boy Advance came out in 2005, developed by Vicarious Visions and published by Activision. It was one of many licensed platformers on the system, based on the animated film, and it fit right in with the era's straightforward, level based adventures.

You control Alex, Marty, Gloria, and Melman across separate stages, switching between their unique abilities to overcome obstacles. Alex swings and pounces, Marty sprints and headbutts, Gloria uses a powerful butt slam to break barriers, and Melman stretches his neck to reach high platforms. The goal is to reunite the crew by completing linear stages, avoiding enemies like foosa and penguin sentries, and collecting fruit for points. The pacing is brisk, with some tricky jumps and enemy patterns that demand quick reflexes. It feels like a light, varied platformer that captures the movie's energy without overcomplicating things.
