Madagascar on the DS is basically like playing through the movie, but with way more jumping on crates and dodging penguins. You switch between Alex the lion, Marty the zebra, and the rest of the crew—each has their own weird little moves (Gloria’s butt-bounce is weirdly satisfying). The levels are these condensed versions of the movie scenes, with some hidden bananas and collectibles if you’re into that.

It’s not super hard, but there’s enough variety—one minute you’re platforming through New York streets, the next you’re racing lemurs in a fruit-throwing mini-game. The controls take a second to get used to, especially the touch-screen bits, but it’s got that early DS charm where everything feels just chaotic enough to be fun. If you liked the movie’s humor, the game nails the same vibe.

Also, the penguins steal every scene they’re in, obviously.
