Game Overview

Ever played an action RPG where you time-travel between ancient Arabia and a sci-fi future? The Magic of Scheherazade throws you into exactly that—switching between sword-and-sorcery battles and laser gun fights like some weird, wonderful fever dream. The combat’s a bit stiff by today’s standards, but there’s something charming about how it mashes up turn-based strategy with real-time dungeon crawling. Also, the music slaps harder than it has any right to.

Fun fact: It was one of the first NES games to let you recruit party members mid-dungeon. I wasted way too much time trying to get that samurai to join me before realizing he only shows up if you’re wearing the right gear.
