You control three characters: Bernard, Hoagie, and Laverne, each stuck in a different time period. Your main goal is to stop the evil Purple Tentacle from taking over the world. You explore the mansion screen by screen, collecting items and combining them in clever ways. The puzzles often involve sending objects between time periods; for example, leaving a piece of modern cheese in the past so it fossilizes into a useful tool centuries later. Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
