Mario And Luigi Superstar Saga (Menace) is one of those GBA RPGs that just sticks with you. The first thing that hits is how alive the Beanbean Kingdom feels - every NPC has some weird little quirk, and the dialogue actually makes you chuckle sometimes.
Combat's the real star though. Timing jumps and hammer swings with both brothers in sync never gets old, especially when you pull off those flashy Bros moves. Early on, I remember struggling against a beanstalk boss until I realized I could bounce Luigi off Mario's head mid-air to reach higher. That moment when it clicks just feels good.
It's not perfect - some of the platforming bits can be janky on the small screen, and the pacing drags a bit in the middle. But the charm and creativity in the battles make up for it. Mario And Luigi Superstar Saga (Menace) still holds up as one of the better RPGs on the system.
