Mario Party 7 came out for the GameCube in 2005, developed and published by Nintendo. It was one of the later entries on the system, arriving when the console's library was well established but still active. The game continued the series' tradition of digital board game chaos, offering another round of colorful, competitive fun for groups.

You control one of several Mario characters, moving around themed boards by rolling dice to collect coins and stars. The main goal is to end each match with the most stars, which you buy from a shifting spot on the board, though coins also contribute to your final score. Key mechanics include four player simultaneous movement, a wide assortment of mini-games triggered after every round, and the use of special orbs that can alter spaces or hinder opponents. Matches can run long, sometimes over an hour, with luck playing a major role in the outcome. It feels like a mix of strategy and absurd chance, where alliances are temporary and every dice roll matters.
