Game Overview

Mario Zelda (Mario Bros Hack) is one of those weird NES rom hacks that shouldn't work but somehow does. You're still jumping on goombas, but now you're also slashing bushes for rupees and exploring dungeons with that classic Zelda top-down view.

At first it feels like a Mario game with the wrong camera angle, but after a while you start noticing little details—Bowser's castles have Zelda-style puzzles, and some power-ups work differently. The sprites are janky in that charming NES way, like someone just copy-pasted Mario into a Zelda cartridge.

It's rough around the edges, but there's something fun about seeing Mario wield a sword instead of just stomping everything. The dungeons can be confusing though—don't expect polished level design.
