Marvel Super Heroes - War of the Gems is one of those classic SNES beat 'em ups that feels like it got lost in time. You pick from five heroes—Wolverine, Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, or Hulk—and brawl through levels packed with goons and Marvel villains. The controls are simple but tight, and each character plays totally different—Hulk smashes everything in sight, while Spidey’s all about quick jumps and web shots.
What’s cool is how it ties into the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, so you’re fighting Thanos’ minions across weird cosmic stages. Some of the sprite work still holds up, especially the way Cap’s shield bounces off enemies. It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but there’s something satisfying about plowing through Hydra agents as Wolverine. The music’s got that classic Capcom arcade energy too.
If you’re into 90s Marvel or just want a solid SNES action game, this one’s worth dusting off.
