Marvel Super Heroes: War of the Gems came out for the Super Nintendo in 1996, developed and published by Capcom. You control one of five Marvel heroes, like Iron Man or Captain America, fighting through screen after screen of enemies to collect the Infinity Gems before Thanos does. The game plays like a straightforward action platformer: you punch, kick, and use special moves to clear each area, occasionally switching characters to take advantage of their unique abilities. It moves at a brisk pace, though the difficulty can spike unexpectedly in later stages. Playing it feels like diving into an old comic book, straightforward and full of color, even if the action gets a bit repetitive after a while.
