Game Overview

Matantei Loki Ragnarok: Gensou no Labyrinth is one of those GBA games that slipped under the radar but absolutely shouldn’t have. You play as Loki—yes, that Loki—except he’s stuck in some kid’s body and solving supernatural mysteries like a pint-sized detective. The whole thing feels like someone mashed up a dungeon crawler with an old-school RPG and then sprinkled Norse mythology on top.

Combat’s turn-based but quick, and the dungeons have this dreamy, almost surreal vibe to them—like you’re wandering through someone’s weird subconscious. If you’ve seen the anime, you’ll recognize characters and little nods everywhere, but even if you haven’t, the writing’s got enough humor and personality to keep things interesting. And yeah, Loki’s still a smug little gremlin the whole time, which honestly just makes it better.

It’s not the longest RPG out there, but that’s kind of the charm—perfect for short bursts or lazy afternoons. Just don’t be surprised if you get weirdly attached to Loki’s snarky commentary by the end.
