Mega Bomberman on the Genesis is basically Bomberman '94 from the TurboGrafx, but with a fresh coat of paint. Same chaotic bomb-dropping madness, just on Sega’s turf. You’ve got your usual maze-like stages, power-ups that make your explosions ridiculous, and those weird little kangaroo mounts that somehow make everything more fun.
At first, it feels like classic Bomberman—place bombs, blow up walls, don’t get cornered. But then you start finding the special abilities, like remote detonation or bombs that kick across the floor, and suddenly you’re plotting way more than just running away. The four-player mode is where it really shines, though. Nothing like trapping your friend in a dead end with a perfectly timed explosion.
It’s not a huge leap from the earlier games, but if you missed the TurboGrafx version, this is a solid way to play it. Just watch out for those sneaky AI enemies—they’ve got a mean streak.
