Game Overview

Mercenary: Escape From Targ is one of those Amiga games that feels way ahead of its time—you're dumped onto this weird, low-poly alien planet with nothing but a stolen ship and a vague sense of panic. The controls take a minute to click (why does "up" make me strafe left?), but once they do, you're sneaking past patrols, trading junk for fuel, and trying not to get vaporized by the locals. The whole thing has this janky, open-ended charm—like if someone mashed together a flight sim and a survival RPG in 1985.

And then there's The Second City expansion, which adds another layer of "oh no, now what?" when you finally escape the first planet. Suddenly you're dealing with spaceports, smuggling, and way too many doors that may or may not lead to instant death. It's clunky, unpredictable, and weirdly absorbing once you stop expecting it to hold your hand.

Honestly, half the fun is figuring out how anything works before your oxygen runs out.
