Game Overview
Metal Slug 2 is one of those arcade shooters that just feels right—chaotic, over-the-top, and packed with ridiculous little details. You pick one of four soldiers (I always go for Tarma, but Eri’s grenade toss is killer) and blast through waves of enemies with guns that somehow get sillier the further you go. One minute you’re spraying bullets with a machine gun, the next you’re lobbing flaming bottles or melting everything with a laser.
The real fun starts when you hop into a Slug—those chunky little tanks and mechs hidden in the levels. The Metal Slug’s cannon turns crowds into confetti, and the flying Slug? Pure mayhem. And yeah, your character actually gets fat if you eat too much food pickups, which is the kind of nonsense that makes this game so weirdly charming.
It’s tough as nails, but in that way where you’ll grin after every stupid death. General Morden’s army throws everything at you, from zombies to giant crabs, and the pixel art still holds up—explosions, goofy enemy reactions, all of it. Just don’t expect to beat it on your first try.
