Game Overview

Mixed Up Fairy Tales came out in 1991 as part of Sierra On-Line's MS-DOS Classic Games series, a collection aimed at younger players during the era of floppy disks and VGA graphics. It was a time when many games still relied on text parsers, but this one offered a simpler, more visual approach to adventure.

You control a young boy or girl who has been pulled into a storybook where all the fairy tales are scrambled. Your goal is to explore each tale screen by screen, solving item-based puzzles to set things right, like returning the Big Bad Wolf's stolen items or helping the Gingerbread Man cross a river. The gameplay involves picking up objects, using them on characters or obstacles, and watching the short tales resolve. There is no combat or complex inventory; the pacing is gentle, with Bookwyrm the dragon offering hints if you get stuck. It feels like quietly untangling a pleasant, familiar dream.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
