Nicky 2 came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, developed by Microïds. It was one of those platformers that felt right at home in the era of floppy disks and simple, colorful graphics, a time when games often relied on clever level design rather than complex stories or cinematic effects.
You control Nicky, a small character navigating maze-like stages filled with ladders, platforms, and hidden passages. The main goal is to collect all the keys in each level to unlock the exit while avoiding enemies and environmental hazards. Signature mechanics include jumping into concealed caves that aren't immediately visible, and using teleporting mirrors that whisk you to different parts of the screen, sometimes helpfully, sometimes leaving you more lost than before. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can spike unexpectedly thanks to devious enemy placement and the need to memorize stage layouts. Playing it feels like a mix of careful observation and quick, reactive movement.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
