You start by picking horses and hiring jockeys, but it’s not as simple as just grabbing the fastest one. Some horses perform better on wet tracks, others get nervous with certain jockeys, and if you ignore their stats, you’ll watch them flop mid-race.
The races play out in this side-view that’s weirdly intense for pixelated horses. You don’t control them directly—just cross your fingers and hope your prep paid off. First time I played, I entered a sprinter in a long-distance race by accident. It did not go well. Best part? Up to four players can compete, so the trash-talking writes itself.
It’s old-school in the best way: no hand-holding, just you and your terrible decisions.
