Game Overview

Pacific Strike came out in 1994 for MS-DOS, developed by Origin Systems. It was part of that wave of early 90s flight sims that tried to blend arcade action with a bit of strategic depth, set against the backdrop of the Pacific theater in World War II. The game didn't try to be the most realistic sim out there, but it had a certain charm and ambition that made it stand out in a crowded field.

You pilot a variety of American aircraft, from fighters to dive bombers, carrying out missions across a dynamic campaign map. Your main goal is to push back Japanese forces by completing objectives like sinking carriers, bombing airfields, and providing cover for invasion fleets. Key mechanics include managing your fuel and ammunition carefully, switching between external and cockpit views for better situational awareness, and coordinating with wingmen who actually follow orders. The pacing is tense; missions can turn quickly if you miss your bombing run or get jumped by Zeroes. It feels like a balancing act between aggression and survival, where every decision ripples through the larger war effort.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
