Panzer Battles came out in 1990 from Strategic Simulations, Inc., one of those MS-DOS games that felt right at home on a beige desktop monitor. It was a time when strategy games were often dense and unforgiving, and this one fit right in without a lot of flash.
You command individual tanks and infantry units across hex-based maps, trying to outmaneuver and destroy enemy forces. The main goal is to capture objectives or eliminate opposition, turn by turn. Key mechanics include using terrain like hills and forests for defensive bonuses and managing limited ammunition and fuel for your vehicles. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, and the difficulty is stern; mistakes are punished quickly. It feels like a careful, tense puzzle where every decision has weight.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
