Game Overview

Plus Alpha is this rad 1989 arcade shooter from Jaleco where you play as two warrior girls, Selia and Rumy, blasting through enemy fleets to free seven kingdoms. What’s cool is you’ve got three different fighter ships to swap between mid-game—each with its own attack style, so you can mix things up when things get too hectic.

The Arcade Archives version nails that old-school arcade feel, right down to the screen filters that make it look like you’re playing on a CRT in some dimly lit pizza parlor. You can tweak the difficulty if the original’s a bit too punishing (because, yeah, it’s an ‘80s arcade game—it doesn’t go easy on you). There’s also online leaderboards if you’re into chasing high scores.

It’s one of those games where the pixel art still holds up, and the soundtrack’s got that classic synth energy. If you’ve got a soft spot for retro shooters, this one’s a solid time capsule.
