Game Overview

Pokémon Ranger flips the usual formula—instead of throwing Pokéballs, you’re sketching loops around wild Pokémon with the stylus to calm them down. It’s way harder than it sounds, especially when some of them bolt around the screen like they’ve had too much coffee.

You start off as a rookie ranger in a region packed with Pokémon that actually help you solve puzzles, like using a Pikachu to zap obstacles or a Machop to push boulders. The story’s nothing groundbreaking, but there’s something oddly satisfying about rescuing a trapped Mankey just to watch it yeet itself at the next problem.

Fair warning: your touchscreen hand will cramp after a while. Some of the later captures feel like trying to lasso a tornado. Still, it’s a fun twist if you’re tired of the usual gym battles.
