Play Pokemon Ranger Online
Capture wild Pokemon by drawing loops on the touchscreen, solve puzzles, and use their abilities to help protect the region in Pokemon Ranger for Nintendo DS.
Pokemon Ranger came out for the Nintendo DS in 2006, developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo. It was part of that early DS wave that really leaned into the touchscreen, offering something different from the mainline Pokemon games. It felt fresh at the time, a spin-off that wasn't afraid to try a new control scheme.
You play as a rookie Ranger tasked with protecting the region's Pokemon and people. Instead of battling with your own team, you capture wild Pokemon by drawing loops around them on the touchscreen. Each capture fills a gauge; if the Pokemon breaks out before it's full, you have to start over. Captured Pokemon can use their abilities to help you clear obstacles, like cutting trees or dousing flames, but they're released immediately afterward. The pacing is steady, with areas opening up as you gain new partner Pokemon and field skills. It's a satisfying mix of action and puzzle-solving that makes you think on your feet.
