Game Overview

Power Racer came out for the original Game Boy, though I don't recall who made it. It was one of those simple top-down racers that felt right at home on the handheld, back when you didn't need a ton of polygons to have a good time.

You control a small car, weaving through tight square tracks while trying to collect all the dots before the other cars get in your way. The main goal is to clear each screen of dots without crashing, which gets harder as enemy drivers become more aggressive. Two mechanics stand out: dropping oil slicks to spin out opponents, and grabbing power-ups that temporarily boost your speed or clear the path. The pacing is quick, and the difficulty ramps up noticeably after the first few stages. It feels like a tense game of cat and mouse where one wrong turn can ruin a perfect run.
