Rage of the Dragons is one of those arcade fighters that flew under the radar but has a weirdly cool backstory—it was originally meant to be a Double Dragon sequel before becoming its own thing. You pick two fighters (tag-team style) and swap between them mid-battle while the benched one slowly catches their breath. The usual punches, kicks, and flashy specials are here, but the real fun is in the roster—14 characters, each with their own weirdly specific fighting style. Like, there’s a guy who fights with a yo-yo (Pepe), a samurai (Kang Jae-Mo), and even a pair of Double Dragon homages (Billy and Jimmy, obviously).

Matches get chaotic fast, especially when you start chaining counters and super moves. The sprites are chunky and colorful in that early 2000s Neo Geo way, and the bosses? Absolute nightmares (looking at you, Abubo Rao). It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but there’s something satisfying about how over-the-top it all feels. You’ll probably pick a main after a few rounds of getting wrecked by Elias’s teleports or Annie’s fireballs.
