Play Rings of Medusa Online
Explore islands, trade goods, hire crew, and battle pirates as you hunt for the Rings of Medusa in this 1989 MS-DOS classic.

Rings of Medusa came out in 1989 from Starbyte Software, a German developer that put out a number of interesting titles for MS-DOS. It was a time when games often mixed genres freely, and this one blended exploration, trading, and combat in a way that felt both ambitious and a little rough around the edges, typical for the era.
You control a ship captain exploring a cluster of islands, trading goods between ports, hiring crew, and fighting pirates in simple turn-based naval battles. The main goal is to collect the titular rings, which are hidden across the world, often requiring you to solve minor puzzles or fulfill specific quests for locals. The economy is dynamic, with prices shifting between towns, and you must manage your supplies and morale carefully. It moves at a deliberate pace, and the difficulty comes from resource management and unpredictable encounters rather than reflexes. Piecing together the map and slowly upgrading your ship gives the whole experience a patient, scavenger-hunt quality.
Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
