Rise of the Robots was one of those games that looked incredible in screenshots—smooth 3D-ish fighters duking it out—but playing it was a different story. On the Amiga, it ran like molasses, and the controls felt stiff as a board. You pick your robot (the designs were cool, at least) and then mash buttons hoping something connects.
It’s one of those games you remember more for the hype than the actual gameplay. The soundtrack slapped, though. If you’re nostalgic for early '90s fighting games that promised way more than they delivered, this might hit the spot.
