Rise of the Robots on the Amiga was one of those games that looked incredible in screenshots—smooth 3D-ish fighters clashing in moody cyberpunk arenas—but playing it was a different story. The controls felt stiff, the AI either stood there or demolished you, and the much-hyped digitized voices mostly just yelled "Fight!" at odd moments. Still, there was something oddly hypnotic about the clunky animations and that eerie synth soundtrack. You could tell they were reaching for something ambitious, even if it didn’t quite land.

Disk 8 was part of the multi-disk release, which meant a lot of frantic swapping if you didn’t have enough memory. The loading screens alone could test your patience, but hey—that was the Amiga experience. I remember being weirdly proud when I finally beat one of the later bots, mostly by spamming the same move over and over.
