Game Overview

Road Rash came out on the Sega Genesis in 1991, published by Electronic Arts. It was one of those games that felt different from everything else on the platform, mixing racing with something a lot more aggressive. While other racers focused on clean laps or avoiding obstacles, this one threw you into chaotic, violent competition on winding roads.

You control a motorcycle racer trying to finish in the top three across a series of increasingly difficult courses. The main objective is straightforward: race, but you spend as much time fighting rivals as you do managing speed. Signature mechanics include kicking and punching other riders, using weapons like clubs or chains stolen from opponents, and avoiding police who try to ram you off the road. The pacing is frantic; one moment you're pulling ahead, the next you're wiping out spectacularly after a well-timed hit. It feels reckless, unpredictable, and completely absorbing from start to finish.
