Road Runner came out on the Super Nintendo in 1992, developed by Sunsoft. It was one of those early platformers that tried to capture the frantic energy of the cartoons, a common goal for games based on Looney Tunes properties at the time. The box art promised the same kind of manic pursuit that made the show so memorable.
You control the Road Runner, and your only job is to survive. Each stage is a mad dash from left to right, with Wile E. Coyote relentlessly chasing you down while setting up an endless variety of ACME traps. You'll dodge falling anvils, leap over TNT bundles, and outrun rockets, all while collecting bird seed to build up a speed boost for a quick getaway. The game moves incredibly fast, and the difficulty spikes quickly, demanding sharp reflexes to anticipate the next incoming hazard. It feels like you're constantly one misstep away from a spectacular, cartoonish explosion.
