Game Overview

Road Runner vs Wile E. Coyote came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Sunsoft. It was one of those licensed games that tried to capture the spirit of the classic cartoons, and it arrived during a time when platformers were everywhere. The game doesn't try to reinvent the wheel; it just drops you right into that desert chase you remember.

You can play as either the Road Runner or Wile E. Coyote across a series of side scrolling stages. As Road Runner, your goal is to reach the end of each level while avoiding traps and enemies; as the coyote, you set traps and try to catch the bird. The game uses a password system to track progress, and the levels are filled with items and obstacles straight out of the cartoons, like anvils and TNT. It moves quickly and can be pretty unforgiving, with instant deaths and limited continues. Playing it feels like a frantic, slightly messy tribute to the source material.
