Play Rockman 6 - Shijou Saidai no Tatakai!! (Japan) Online

Rockman 6—or Mega Man 6 if you grew up outside Japan—is the NES series' final hurrah, and man, does it go out swinging. Right off the bat, you get eight new Robot Masters with designs that somehow top the previous games (looking at you, Knight Man and Wind Man). The Rush Adaptor suits are a game-changer—fusing with Rush to smash through obstacles or hover over gaps feels ridiculously satisfying.

The levels are packed with little secrets if you poke around, and the music? Pure 8-bit adrenaline. It’s not the hardest in the series, but the controls are so tight that even when you die, it’s usually your fault. That last stretch before Dr. Wily’s fortress still gives me flashbacks, though. If you’ve ever spent an afternoon grinding for E-tanks or memorizing boss patterns, this one’s a must-play.
