Rockman 6 came out on the NES in 1993, developed and published by Capcom. It was one of the later releases for the system, arriving when the 16-bit era was already in full swing, but it still delivered a solid, polished experience that felt right at home on the aging hardware.

You control Mega Man, running and jumping through side scrolling stages, shooting enemies with your arm cannon. The main goal is to defeat eight Robot Masters, then take on Dr. Wily's fortress. Two key mechanics stand out: you can now power up Rush the robotic dog into different suits, like the Power Armor for breaking certain blocks or the Jet Armor for limited flight. The game also introduces the Energy Balancer, which automatically fills the weapon energy of your lowest charged special weapon when you grab a large energy pellet. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty is challenging but fair, with fewer cheap enemy placements than some earlier entries. It feels tight and responsive, like a well worn pair of shoes that still has plenty of miles left in it.
